If Transformers are from another planet, why do they look exactly like our automobiles and airplanes?

Don't say "because the people who wrote the story made it that way". I already knew that. Tell me something I DON'T know.

This is the most important question I have in life.If Transformers are from another planet, why do they look exactly like our automobiles and airplanes? In the first movie, and even in the cartoons you will see that they transform to blend in wherever they are. So since they are on planet earth they transform into something mechanical and movable. If you're basing it off the movies, when you see their flashbacks about their planet they came from, they aren't cars driving around they're simply huge mechanical aliens. It's not supposed to make sense, it's not exactly reality. If Transformers are from another planet, why do they look exactly like our automobiles and airplanes?
in the live action movies: they have a built in scanning system which enables them to scan any vehicle of a similar size and transform into it

in G1 and TFA: the autobots ship(The Ark) and decepticons ship(Nemesis) though often just the autobots ship; usually have a trans-scanning system built into it and it will search for suitable alt. modes for them to transform into.

in TFA the decepticons have scanners built in like in the live action moviesIf Transformers are from another planet, why do they look exactly like our automobiles and airplanes? The entire purpose of them being able to change into different vehicles and planes is to blend in with their surroundings. If you remember the cartoon from the 1980's, the theme song has the line "robots in disguise."

It took Megatron two movies before he adapted to a Earth vehicle, but he did so because he was actually hiding this time. Hence, the disguise.
The autobots true form is the form they fight in, but when they can to earth they needed to blend in so, because we humans would have noticed them walking around. Given what they are made of (metal) and that they would have to stay mobil to most likely choice of objects on earth would be cars and trucks. All they need to do is scan the object they want to turn into (Bumblebee = car and the small crazy one from the first movie and the cell phone) and then transform.

I don't think it is because they wrote it that way, but more for practical reasons of looks and mobility without actually being seen by people. If Transformers are from another planet, why do they look exactly like our automobiles and airplanes?have you ever seen a Transformers movie? If Transformers are from another planet, why do they look exactly like our automobiles and airplanes?
they're shape changing chameleons. they take the shapes they need to survive.
Well, the 'Transformer' part of their existence is transferred to human vehicles, such as cars and planes...

As far as why they looked like futuristic human vehicles on CyberTron; beats me.If Transformers are from another planet, why do they look exactly like our automobiles and airplanes?
Because they're not real, and whoever made them up did a half *** job and wasn't very creative.
I think they're in disguise?
Have you seen the cartoons or movies? They take the shape of the vehicle when they get to earth. They aren't vehicles at first.
If you notice what Bumblebee did, he changed into a Camaro. They adapt to whatever will help them stay camouflaged and if that is an automobile, then that is what they change into.
Because they are TRANSFORMERS!!!!!!!!!!!! They TRANSFORM from robots to cars. They will scan cars or airplanes to be camflogue(whatever you spell it). So when troubles they turn to ROBOTS! You need to see the cartoon transformers it might help you understand a little bit.
