Does anyone know how to defeat Ironhide in the first Transformers game for Wii?

His life is almost up and I've defeated all the tow truck drones and the running drones except one. This last on is running into the building and he won't stop. He's just kinda stuck there. If I go to close, Ironhide shoots at me and nothing happens when I throw cars at him.
