Can i hook 2 or more transformers up together if they are running the same?

i was planing on building an inverter and i was wondering if i could hook up 2 or more transformers, to get more amperage out of them. is this safe? possible? Can i hook 2 or more transformers up together if they are running the same?Basically yes.

What high power inverters do is have a number of smaller sections of battery DC to high voltage DC converters (basically the FETs to drive the transformer in push-pull, on the primary, and rectifiers on the high voltage side, connected to a common DC circuit). The High-voltage DC goes through the chopping FETs, to make the psuedo AC they do. High power inverters bascally have a number of them in parallel, with the gates with their own drive current. Can i hook 2 or more transformers up together if they are running the same?Amperage handling capacity is a function of the source driving the transformer. How do you hook them up by the way?
